Corafax-CV comprises of cefuroxime which treats a wide variety of infections caused by bacteria. It is a cephalosporin antibiotic and works by inhibiting the bacterial cell growth.

MECHANISM of ACTION: –

CORAFAX-CV (CEFUROXIME AXETIL 500 MG + POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE 125 MG) has a broad spectrum of activity against common pathogens. It produces its bactericidal action by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefuroxime binds to the target proteins which is responsible for the bacterial replication.

Clavulanic acid is a naturally derived beta lactamase inhibitor produced by Streptomyces clavuligerus. Clavulanic acid binds to and inactivates them thus preventing the destruction of cefuroxime that is a substrate for this enzyme.

INDICATIONS: –

CORAFAX-CV (CEFUROXIME AXETIL 500 MG + POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE 125 MG)is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the conditions listed below:

• Pharyngitis/tonsillitis
• Acute bacterial otitis media
• Acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis
• Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and secondary bacterial infections of acute bronchitis
• Uncomplicated skin and skin-structure infections
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
• Uncomplicated gonorrhea (urethral and endocervical)
• Early lyme disease (erythema migrans)
